In these difficult and destabilising times, it feels vital to come together and lean into beauty.
Dance has always been my surest path from despair to joy, so I’ve decided to open a space where we can gather and dance together.
This isn’t a dance class. It’s an opportunity to let music pour through you; to move in whatever ways you want to; to shed sadness if you need to, to let your body be a vessel of rhythm and harmony, laughter and fun; to forget about the world for an hour or so; and to walk away pulsing with joy.
I’ll open the space and lead the way (a bit), but the idea is that you are free to dance yourself free.
As for the music: there will be plenty of funk, disco and soul, world music and rock and roll. Virtually no electronic music. What I’m trying to say is: it will be music for those of us in the sterling years of our lives, but all are welcome. :)
PLEASE DRESS MORE COLOURFULLY THAN YOU HAVE EVER DRESSED IN YOUR LIFE. Feather boas are welcome, as are sequins, scarves, multicoloured skirts, ridiculous ties, loud shirts and outrageous dresses.
There is no cost for this event, but you are welcome to make a donation. All proceeds will be given to our local food banks.
There are a limited number of spaces, so pre-registration is required. (Thanks in advance for cancelling your registration if you find you are unable to come!)
