Memoir Writing Ink PLUS
For writers seeking professional editorial feedback on their writing.
The new Memoir Writing Ink PLUS option offers you the contents of the Memoir Writing Ink program + the opportunity to submit 3 pieces of writing to a carefully selected professional editor, who will provide written feedback and meet with you to discuss your writing.
This submission process and in-depth review will allow you to deeply understand the editorial feedback you receive, where and how your writing might be tightened or improved, and how to shape and transform your writing into the best work it can be.
This option is perfect for anyone looking to publish and/or submit their writing to a contest.
There are a limited number of spaces available.
-
Memoir Writing Ink PLUS will begin with an orientation session with your editor and the other MWI PLUS writers. This Zoom session will allow you to meet your editor ‘face-to-face,’ create clear goals and expectations, review the submission process, and establish a level of comfort and familiarity with your editor.
You are then invited to submit 3 short pieces (one 500-word piece + one 1000-word piece + one 2000-word piece), one per month (Feb/Mar/Apr), for a total of 3500 words. These can be stand-alone pieces or segments of a longer work. You may also choose to submit one single submission of 3500 words.
For each submission, you will receive an editorial summary as well as marginal notes and suggestions.
You may schedule one 30-minute Zoom meeting with your editor for an in-depth discussion of one of your edits.
-
The timeline for submissions is: February 20 (500-word max), March 20 (1000-word max), April 20 (2000-word max). If you are making a single submission of 3500 words, the deadline for that submission is March 31.
You are always welcome to submit your writing earlier than the deadline.
Your editor will provide their review within 5-7 business days, depending on the length of the submission. (A longer submission could take up to 10 days.)
Your 30-minute meeting with your editor can take place anytime before April 30 and it can pertain to any one of your submissions. You may schedule that meeting directly with your editor at any point.
In the interest of creating accountability and deadlines that support accomplishment, there are no extensions or refunds for this package.
Please think of these deadlines and timelines as your BEST FRIENDS. They will keep you on task and writing, even and especially when your inner critic/perfectionist says you can’t do it or need more time. ;)

THE REVISION COURSE
The Revision Course is a collection of resources that allow you to 'peer over the shoulders' of writers and editors to see what they notice when they work on a piece of writing and how they would go about revising and improving it.
The course also contains a detailed list of important considerations and questions to ask yourself while revising, as well as powerful tools and suggestions for becoming your own best editor.
In addition to lessons on the art of revision, this course includes an examination of some of the most critical elements of writing craft (these can sometimes make the difference between being seriously considered for a prize and being dismissed after the first paragraph), as well as in-depth sessions on what makes a winning story stand out.
You will have lifetime access to this course, so it’s always there when you need it.
